Today I will promote Australia to key American business events stakeholders in New York.

Business events are a crucial part of Australia’s tourism industry. In 2017, more than 1 million international business events visitors spent $4.75 billion in Australia. To put that into context, if the business events sector was a country, it would be Australia’s second largest market after China, in terms of visitor expenditure.

Business events visitors from the United States are particularly valuable to Australia, with 135,000 business events visitors from the USA spending $814 million last year in Australia.

Australia is strongly perceived around the world as a high-quality destination for business events, with our natural environment, beautiful fresh produce and excellent business events facilities all combining to give us a significant competitive advantage.

Today’s event is supported by the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia and will showcase Australian wine to key North American business events decision makers.

Australia’s world class food and wine are a huge part of Australia’s destination appeal to international visitors.

This event is part of Turnbull Government’s ongoing support for the lucrative business events sector. Last month the Government announced a $12 million Boosting Business Events Bid Fund program to attract more global conferences, conventions and exhibitions to Australia to grow our record breaking tourism industry.
