Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb, has confirmed the appointment of a fifth senior investment specialist to Austrade, delivering on a commitment to enhance efforts to increase foreign investment in priority sectors.

Karen Wales, formerly a senior executive with Jones LaSalle, will bring extensive experience in the Asia Pacific hotel market to her new role attracting investment to the Australian tourism sector.

“Our senior investment specialists will focus on industries identified with all states and territories as benefiting from greater levels of foreign investment, including major infrastructure, food and agribusiness, resources and energy, tourism infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, services and technology,” Mr Robb said.

“They will promote Australia as an investment destination of first choice, working with state and territory governments to ensure projects get off the ground.”

Ms Wales begins her role next month, based in Sydney, and will join Paul Field who began in September, focusing on advanced manufacturing, services and technology investment.
