NSW startups' best and brightest chance to go global

Ten New South Wales startups willhave an exciting opportunity to meet with world-leading innovation experts inTel Aviv, Israel, one of the most advanced innovation hubs in the world.

Federal Trade, Tourism andInvestment Minister Steven Ciobo, and New South Wales Minister for InnovationMatt Kean are calling for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning startupsto apply for the intensive, 10-day program at Austrade's Israel Landing Padthis July as part of a joint Austrade and New South Wales Government program.

"The Turnbull Coalition Governmentrecognises the importance of innovation to Australia's economic growth, that'swhy we've established the Landing Pad program as part of the NationalInnovation and Science Agenda," Mr Ciobo said.

"Our Landing Pads in Berlin, TelAviv, San Francisco, Shanghai and Singapore have already helped connect dozensof Australian startups with big investors, and advised how to scale up their business in acompetitive global environment," he said.

"This is an extraordinaryopportunity and I applaud the New South Wales Government for having the visionto invest in its entrepreneurs."

Mr Kean said the government remainsfocused on ensuring New South Wales is the startup capital of Australia, andthe Israel trip is a fantastic opportunity to showcase home-grown talent on aglobal stage.

"I'm proud to say that New South Wales is Australia'shome of innovation, and continues to attract companies that are creating thenext generation of jobs and businesses," Mr Kean said.

"Israel is continuing to proveitself as a global leader in innovation, so the knowledge our startups bringhome will be absolutely invaluable to their businesses, and our local economy.

"Last year, I had the pleasure ofseeing the Landing Pad personally. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity tolearn and network with the best in the business, and I encourage New SouthWales startups to take advantage of it."

The program includes an introduction to the Israelistartup environment, engagement with local AI startups and founders who havesuccessfully expanded in the global market, and networking opportunities withthe local community.

This marks the third year the NewSouth Wales Government has partnered with Austrade's Landing Pad program.
