Tapping global growth in online sales
I am pleased to launch a new guide to help Australian export businesses harness the power of e-commerce to expand into global markets.
Developed by Austrade, Online Exporting: A Guide for Australian Business is a practical resource for exporters looking to access markets like China, Japan, South Korea, and Indonesia.
Internet shopping has quickly progressed to become an everyday activity in many of Australia's top export markets, some of which are seeing double-digit sales growth as e-commerce platforms increase access to new products.
The guide forms part of Austrade's initiative to develop relationships with major international online platforms, reduce barriers to exporting online and educate Australian exporters about new business models. It covers a range of topics including the online sales cycle, selling overseas from your own website and understanding the business models of major online sales platforms.
The guide also complements the digital resources currently available to businesses through DFAT's award-winning Free Trade Agreement Portal (FTA), which provides vital information about our FTAs and how to take advantage of them.
The Turnbull Coalition Government is pursuing the most ambitious trade agenda in Australia's history and opening more markets for Australian businesses, allowing them to grow and create new jobs through increased exports.
Earlier this year the Coalition concluded the TPP-11 and the Peru-Australia Free Trade Agreement, and will launch negotiations for a trade agreement with the European Union later this month.
