Give the gift of travel to support tourism sector
Australians are being encouraged to give travel experiences as gifts this year to support jobs and businesses in the tourism sector.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said the $8 million marketing campaign launched today would inspire and encourage Australians to buy travel-related Christmas presents this year.
“Because of the success of our national plan and vaccination program, Australia is re-opening to travel and Australians are booking holidays again,” Mr Tehan said.
“A travel experience is a unique gift, from wine tasting, surfing lessons, a hot air balloon ride or a romantic weekend away.
“Not only do tourism experiences make a unique gift, with Australians typically spending around $16 billion on gifts over the Christmas period, buying a tourism experience will help support local jobs and businesses.
“Australians are generous gift givers and they also love getting out and doing things, so giving the gift of travel is the perfect combination this holiday season.”
The Gift of Travel campaign is the latest instalment of Tourism Australia’s Holiday Here This Year campaign featuring Hamish Blake and Zoe Foster-Blake.
