Supporting tourism businesses to find new customers

The Morrison Government is providing $6.5 million to fund Australia’s leading tourism industry conference in recognition of the challenges facing the sector caused by COVID-19.

The Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) starts in Sydney today and brings together more than 2000 tourism industry representatives in person and a further 1200 online.

Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said he was confident about the future of Australian tourism.

“Australia’s economic and health response to COVID-19 is among the best in the world, and when international travel resumes, I am confident that tourists will again return to Australia for our amazing tourist experiences, culture and people,” Mr Tehan said.

“In the meantime, the Government has taken action to encourage Australians to book domestic holidays and support our local tourism businesses and jobs.

“The Australian Tourism Exchange is opportunity for the industry to work together to plan for Australia’s future success, build networks and exchange knowledge.

‘Our Government is providing record support to these year’s event to ensure our tourism industry is best-placed to take advantage of our economic recovery.”

The Morrison Government funded the ATE through the National Bushfire Recovery Fund.
