Over 100 business event decision-makers and planners from across the globe will descend upon Perth this week to take part in Tourism Australia’s signature incentive event, Dreamtime.

Held every two years, this event highlights the unique attractions and premium experiences Australia has to offer as a leading business events destination.

Federal Tourism Minister Simon Birmingham said Dreamtime was a major opportunity for Australian industry to present our world-class tourism experiences to key industry decision makers.

“Dreamtime will showcase Australia’s strong credentials as an outstanding business destination from our world-class accommodation and venue offerings, unique experiences, world-class food and wine to our welcoming people,” Minister Birmingham said.

"Business events are one of the most crucial sectors of Australia's tourism industry delivering huge economic benefits to the broader economy, with business events visitors injecting $5 billion into the economy last year.

“There is huge potential to further grow the sector and for destinations such as Perth to attract more lucrative events with over 1 million people travelling to Australia for business events each year.

"Business events can be very lucrative for cities and this week Perth will have the opportunity to show buyers why it should be considered as a destination of choice.

“With new hotels, iconic locations such as Rottnest Island and the Margaret River, Perth has a major opportunity to show-off its unique experiences and attractions to the big hitters within the industry.

Minister Birmingham said this event was part of the Morrison Government’s continued focus on the business events industry, with the Business Events Bid Fund helping to secure 28 major events around Australia.

“To date, the bid fund has helped to attract more than $300 million worth of incentive and association events to Australia, providing a significant boost to our tourism industry.”

More than 100 qualified incentive travel decision-makers and planners from Japan, South Korea, Greater China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the UK, New Zealand and the US will attend Dreamtime 2019.

Presented in partnership with the Perth Convention Bureau, the event will include pre-arranged business appointments, networking events and a city showcase of Perth, along with a series of educational visits around the country.
