Indonesia Trade Negotiations

This week I am visiting Indonesia to advance negotiations on the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA).

This agreement will create the framework for a new era of closer economic engagement between our countries, creating new opportunities and markets for Australian exporters.

This will be my second visit to Indonesia as Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment and builds further momentum to concluding the agreement in 2017.

In Jakarta I will meet senior Indonesian Ministers and consult Indonesian and Australian business leaders.
Indonesia's strong economic growth prospects mean the agreement will create exciting opportunities for Australian exporters, particularly in the services and resources sectors.
With a population of more than 255 million – including a middle class of more than 45 million forecast to grow to 135 million by 2030 – the IA-CEPA will help Australian exporters supply the growing needs of Indonesian consumers with Australian goods and services.

The agreement will also create opportunities for Australian and Indonesian businesses to work together to tap into the burgeoning opportunities to our north.

The Turnbull Government is pursuing an ambitious trade agenda, including agreements such as the IA-CEPA, to grow our economy and create more Australian jobs.
