Australia's cyber security sector ready to tackle global threats
Today we launch the Cyber Security Industry Capability Report, which highlights Australia's strengths and capabilities in combating the growing threat of cyber-attacks on people, businesses and governments. These strengths demonstrate Australia's global leadership in cutting-edge IT services, helping shape the export markets of tomorrow.
The cost of global cybercrime was estimated at US$3 trillion in 2015. This figure is expected to grow over the coming years, emphasising the need to develop advanced defences.
The Turnbull Government has collaborated with industry to produce this report, which is designed to promote Australia's competitive advantages in cyber security internationally for both export and investment audiences.
The report profiles Australia's niche capabilities and strengths including its highly skilled cyber security workforce, strong government support and advanced R&D, software development, consultancy, education and training. It also highlights the many innovative Australian companies making a valuable contribution to global cyber resilience.
Austrade is leading a delegation of up to 30 cyber security organisations to the RSA Conference in San Francisco from 13 to 17 February 2017. These organisations are at the forefront of developments in online safety and security.
RSA is the premier global cyber security conference, attracting major players from industry, government and academia. The Australian delegates represent world leading safety and security companies and will have the opportunity to network with decision makers from US organisations such as Symantec, Palo Alto Networks, Juniper Networks, Cylance, Salesforce and Tesla.
