Marking 60 years of Australia's trade and investment partnership with Japan
I am leading a business delegation to Japan to support the creation ofnew export opportunities for Australian businesses, which will help generatemore Australian jobs.
The delegation is madeup of senior business leaders from the food and beverage, financial services, and health and life sciences sectors. Together, we will pursue new commercialopportunities, promote 'brand Australia' and forge new business partnerships.
A major focus of myvisit, on April 18-19, will be to progress the implementation of the JapanAustralia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA). Australia is the only majoragricultural exporter to have a Free Trade Agreement with Japan and our exportsare booming under this landmark agreement.
Sixty years since theAustralia-Japan Commerce Agreement, our commercial and trade policyrelationship with Japan is strong and productive.
As the third largesteconomy in the world, and our second largest export market and source offoreign investment, Japan is a vitally important trade and economic partner forAustralia. The challenges facing the global trading system make close andeffective cooperation between Australia and Japan more vital than ever.
The Turnbull Governmentis committed to expanding trade and investment with Japan as we work togetherto advance our shared commitment to a global system of open, liberalised trade.
