There’s nothing like Australia for tourism investment
A new tourism investment website shows global investors why there's nothing like Australia for their tourism investments.
I will launch the website at the Investment and Northern Australia Reception in Singapore tonight which will be attended by leading Singaporean investors. The event will raise awareness of the untapped opportunity in Northern Australia, of which tourism is a significant component.
The new website demonstrates the Turnbull Government's ongoing commitment to fostering and promoting tourism investment opportunities across the country.
We recognise that for Australia to remain a competitive tourism destination, investment in tourism infrastructure must continue to be a priority, ensuring increased accommodation in capital cities, world-class business event facilities, revitalised regional offerings, and outstanding leisure attractions.
The new website, www.tourisminvestment.com.au, has been developed to provide information and insights on tourism opportunities, and demonstrate that Australian tourism is open for investment.
Recognising the importance of the Chinese market, both in terms of its visitor and investment potential, a simplified Chinese version of the website, www.tourisminvestment.com.au/zh, is also available.
The new tourism investment website provides influencers and decision-makers direct access to Australian Government investment specialists as well as the latest tourism industry insights and trends.
Record international arrival and spend figures have already fuelled a record level of hotel investment, with $7.6 billion worth of accommodation projects alone, and providing a potential 15,900 new rooms, in the pipeline.
According to the latest Investment Monitor by Tourism Research Australia, there are currently 173 projects worth a combined $59.8 billion in the tourism investment pipeline, including those in the aviation, accommodation and arts, recreation and business services sector.
