Visit to Las Vegas
I will lead a delegation of 23Australian tourism businesses to IMEX America, the largest business eventstrade show in the United States, to promote Australia as a business eventsdestination.
While in Las Vegas, I will payrespect to the victims of the recent mass shooting by laying a wreath at theHealing Gardens, a memorial built near the shooting site by communityvolunteers. I will be joined by Australian band, and Las Vegas residents, HumanNature, who will sing to honour those killed and injured.
During the visit I will also meetwith Las Vegas hotel and entertainment venue developers and operators, tohighlight the investment opportunities in Australia for tourism infrastructure.
At IMEX, Tourism Australia willjoin with an Australian delegation including airlines, convention centres,accommodation providers, team building experiences and destination managementcompanies to showcase some of the world's best business events destinations andexperiences from Australia.
Australia's innovative event deliverycapabilities, friendly people and unique landscapes, combined with ourexceptional food and wine and high-quality products, create a unique experiencefor business events.
A business event in Australiadelivers a high return on investment, with business events visitors spending onaverage three times the amount spent by a leisure visitor.
Last year IMEX generated more than50 business leads, highlighting the importance of the United States market.
In the year ending June 2017, theUnited States was Australia's second biggest inbound market in terms ofexpenditure and third largest in terms of visits. In the same period, 110,000business event visitors from the United States spent $693 million during theirvisit to Australia.
The Turnbull Government supports this valuable industrythrough Tourism Australia's dedicated business events unit, which deliversmarketing communications, industry partnerships and trade distribution programsto increase awareness and demand for Australia as a business eventsdestination.
