Palaszczuk’s word is worthless, Palaszczuk Government Minister says
The Palaszczuk Government is putting Queensland jobs at risk after a Government Minister caused a dramatic escalation in the State's sovereign risk profile.
This morning Queensland Public Works Minister Mick de Brenni told ABC Brisbane the written word of the Queensland Government could no longer be relied on.
Interviewer: "If you won't keep an agreement you've signed, that means your word is not worth anything. Will Queensland keep its trade agreements?
Minister de Brenni: "We won't be constrained by free trade agreements..."
Interviewer: "So that's a no?"
Minister de Brenni: "That's a no."
Premier Palaszczuk has provided written support for more free trade agreements than any Premier in Queensland's history.
The Australian Government has relied on her word to secure world-leading access to export markets for Queensland businesses and farmers.
But in a stunning admission, one of Premier Palaszczuk's own Cabinet Ministers says she can't be trusted to keep her word.
Billions of dollars of Australia's exports, and the thousands of jobs they support, are at risk.
More than 70 per cent of Queensland's exports last year were to countries with which Australia already has a free trade agreement.
By walking away from these agreements Premier Palaszczuk is walking away from the Queensland farmers and businesses who sell Queensland's products, produce and services to the world, putting 500,000 Queensland jobs at risk.
