  • Media release

Today I will promote Australia tokey American business events stakeholders in New York.

Businessevents are a crucial part of Australia's tourism industry. In 2017, more than 1million international business events visitors spent $4.75 billion inAustralia. To put that into context, if the business events sector was acountry, it would be Australia's second largest market after China, in terms ofvisitor expenditure.

Businessevents visitors from the United States are particularly valuable to Australia, with 135,000 business events visitors from the USA spending $814 million lastyear in Australia.

Australia isstrongly perceived around the world as a high-quality destination for businessevents, with our natural environment, beautiful fresh produce and excellentbusiness events facilities all combining to give us a significant competitiveadvantage.

Today's eventis supported by the Ultimate Winery Experiences of Australia and will showcaseAustralian wine to key North American business events decision makers.

Australia's world class food andwine are a huge part of Australia's destination appeal to internationalvisitors.

This event ispart of Turnbull Government's ongoing support for the lucrative business eventssector. Last month the Government announced a $12 million Boosting BusinessEvents Bid Fund program to attract more global conferences, conventions andexhibitions to Australia to grow our record breaking tourism industry.
