  • Media release

I am pleased to announce the expansion of the Government's FTA Portal, further delivering on our election commitment to assist Australian businesses take advantage of the opportunities provided by our free trade agreements.

Practical and user-friendly information about exporting into an additional nine overseas markets now appears on the FTA portal.

The Portal is already helping Australian businesses to grow and create jobs by making it easier for them to identify the export opportunities generated by Australia's FTAs.

The additional markets comprise Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, which together represent almost $75 billion in two-way trade (2015-16) for Australia.

The Portal already covers FTAs with China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and New Zealand. All of Australia's active FTAs will soon be available, with the United States and Chile to be added later this year.

The latest update to the Portal also includes an interactive tool to help businesses decide whether a bilateral or plurilateral FTA offers the best access to an export market, since in some markets more than one FTA is available.

The Portal has attracted more than 60,000 unique users since its launch in March 2016, and is being accessed around 2000 times a week.
