Corroboree West commences on the Gold Coast

The Gold Coast is on display following yesterday'sopening of Tourism Australia's inaugural Corroboree West event.

This educational trade event provides an invaluableopportunity for more than 120 Australian sellers to showcase their products toqualified Aussie Specialists from 14 countries, including the USA, Canada, Brazil,UK, Germany, France and Italy.

Agents will have the chance to participate in afamiliarisation program to experience Australia's incredible tourism products,further enhancing their ability to sell our country to their customers at home.

The event also shines a spotlight on the Gold Coastas momentum builds for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in April 2018, with morethan 100,000 visitors expected to descend on the city for the event.

Australia's record international visitor arrivalsand spend figures reflect a continued strong demand for our unique tourismexperiences.

In the 12 months to June 2017, internationalvisitors spent a record $40.6 billion in Australia, an increase of 7 per cent.International visitors for the same period reached a record 8.54 million, anincrease of 8.9 per cent on the previous year.

Corroboree West 2017 is held in partnership withTourism and Events Queensland, Destination Gold Coast, Virgin Australia andSingapore Airlines; with State and Territory Organisations supporting thefamiliarisation trips, and follows from the 2016 Corroboree Asia event inPerth, which targeted key Eastern markets.
