South Australian company Prism Systems has been awarded a new contract with the Defence Innovation Hub to develop a software capability solution for the Royal Australian Navy.
Minister for Defence Industry Melissa Price today announced the $900,000 Defence Innovation Hub contract with Prism Systems.
“The new work created under this project will allow Prism Systems to recruit and train new staff,” Minister Price said.
“During these challenging times, the Morrison Government is continuing to back Australian defence industry by investing in innovative Australian businesses and supporting the growth of Australian jobs.”
Prism Systems’ first contract with the Hub seeks to develop a software capability solution for the Royal Australian Navy, designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ship and aviation systems.
This will be achieved through automating processing, analysis, recording and reporting of data.
“I’m delighted to see the Defence Innovation Hub continuing to provide Australian businesses with opportunities that could enhance Defence capability,” Minister Price said.
Senator for South Australia and Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Simon Birmingham congratulated South Australian company Prism Systems on securing its first contract with the Defence Innovation Hub.
“We’re backing innovative South Australian businesses, like Prism Systems, to play a major part in South Australia’s growing defence industry,” Minister Birmingham said.
"Under our shipbuilding program we are building submarines and frigates right here in South Australia, and we’re also investing in the development of new defence technologies, which will create more local jobs and have flow-on effects through our economy.”
The Morrison Government has awarded more than $270 million in Innovation Hub contracts to develop innovative technologies with Defence application since December 2016.
About 84 per cent of these investments have been with Australian micro, small and medium sized businesses.
