The Gold Coast is on display following yesterday’s opening of Tourism Australia’s inaugural Corroboree West event.

This educational trade event provides an invaluable opportunity for more than 120 Australian sellers to showcase their products to qualified Aussie Specialists from 14 countries, including the USA, Canada, Brazil, UK, Germany, France and Italy.

Agents will have the chance to participate in a familiarisation program to experience Australia’s incredible tourism products, further enhancing their ability to sell our country to their customers at home.

The event also shines a spotlight on the Gold Coast as momentum builds for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in April 2018, with more than 100,000 visitors expected to descend on the city for the event.

Australia’s record international visitor arrivals and spend figures reflect a continued strong demand for our unique tourism experiences.

In the 12 months to June 2017, international visitors spent a record $40.6 billion in Australia, an increase of 7 per cent. International visitors for the same period reached a record 8.54 million, an increase of 8.9 per cent on the previous year.

Corroboree West 2017 is held in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland, Destination Gold Coast, Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines; with State and Territory Organisations supporting the familiarisation trips, and follows from the 2016 Corroboree Asia event in Perth, which targeted key Eastern markets.

Tourism Australia’s Aussie Specialist Program provides frontline travel sellers from around the world with the skills and knowledge to best sell Australia.
