Trade Minister Craig Emerson and Parliamentary Secretary for Trade Justine Elliot today announced the latest round of partners for the $14.4 million TradeStart business export program.
TradeStart, which began in 1998, is a national network of trade and investment assistance offices. These offices bring together the local
knowledge of regional organisations with the international market expertise of Austrade’s global network of more than 100 offices in 55 countries.
"TradeStart partners will provide practical, on the ground support to small and medium-sized businesses across Australia to help them expand globally," Ms Elliot said.
Dr Emerson said the program’s benefits went beyond the success of individual companies.
"Global engagement through exporting and investment generates high-skill, high-wage jobs and economic prosperity for Australia," he said.
"That’s why the Australian Government continues to prosecute the case for further trade liberalisation."
Since 2002, the TradeStart network has helped more than 2,000 businesses achieve export successes worth more than $750 million.
